Luau Theme Wedding Rehersal Dinner!!!??!?!?!?

We are having a Destination Wedding in Clearwater Beach, Florida. Anyways, Since it is a destination wedding and everyone is coming rfom the north I figured it would be fun to have a Luau theme rehersal dinner, lei’s etc. Any ideas on games, things to decorate with that would be fun but not OVERLY tacky? Thanks! Also, since we are having a destination wedding and all of our guests will be traeling should we invite EVERYONE to the rehersal dinner, or just the wedding party? Thanks!

For the Luau theme just keep it simple. Scatter some lei’s and orchid petals on the table for decorations, tiki torches, etc.

Sound equipment for beach wedding?

Hi, I am getting married on the beach in NC next year. I want to make sure that everyone can hear the ceremony and the music over the wind and waves. Some DJ’s will make sure this happens for an extra charge. I am wondering, has anyone used an IPOD dock for the music and rented any particular sound equipment and had a successful ceremony? What do I need to know, what do I need to have? What are the costs associated? Would I be better off just hiring someone? Thanks!

It is said that in order to have the same loudness outdoors as you do indoors, you need about 4 to 6 times more power.

So lets say that indoors you run a stereo at about 200 watts per channel to overcome the voices of people talking at a party, etc.

That means for outdoors you are going to need 800 to 1200 watts per channel of power in order for the loudness to be about the same!

You can still use the iPod dock, but you need a serious amp to make sure that people can hear. Most DJs will have that.
