What do you think of my wedding bouquet?

Okay, so them of my wedding is white and lavender. White for obvious reasons and lavender because it’s my favorite color. So I want to have lavender roses in my bouquet. However I’m not sure if I should do only lavender roses or lavender and white. I dont want it to be all lavender and boring but my bridesmaids have white bouquets so I’m not sure if I should put white in mine as well. What do you think? Also, I’m having a beach wedding, so should my bridesmaids wear long or short dresses? Thanks so much! P.S. Please no opinions on my colors, It’s staying lavender lol Big day- July 17th (:

Congratulations on the big day!! Sounds like it’s coming together nicely. I love the lavender and white color scheme, especially for the beach wedding.

I would choose to do a white and purple bouquet. Then you incorporate a little bit of every color everyone has into the most special bouquet of all….yours!!
I would choose long dresses for the bridesmaids,it’s more elegant! :) :)
Best of luck to you, you fiancé, and your family!! God bless!

Myrtle Beach Wedding Vacations

North Myrtle Beach Vacations

Myrtle Beach is practically synonymous with loosening up. It’s hard to imagine a visitor to this destination taking very long to unwind, and upon leaving it’ll be with a body and mind that are light and free. The coastal area known as the “Grand Strand” is attractive for many reasons, but to focus on an especially fun-friendly and not too overwhelming part of it, think North Myrtle Beach.

North Myrtle Beach is tops in more ways than one. It’s located well within reach of all the vast area’s attractions but it contains a healthy array of activities right on its own turf. Nine miles of spectacular beach, restaurants, shopping and parks all contribute to a general air of rest and relaxation, and once you’ve established a home base you won’t have far to go to see and do everything you’ve heard about.

Theme parks, aquariums, mini-golf, and even a vineyard will entice you in one of many directions. The beach itself is of course a big draw, and will satisfy those urges you’ve been having to kick off your shoes, roll up your pant legs, and play around in the surf like you once did as a child. Nothing beats bringing daydreams to life, so continue your reveries just long enough to perfect them and then get ready to make it all happen.

Here’s a sample day in North Myrtle Beach: wake up whenever you feel like it. You may be tempted to sleep in because you’ve been a bit overworked lately, but you also don’t want to miss a second of your hard-earned trip so don’t be surprised if excitement energizes you in a surprising way. The beach makes an excellent first stop, as watching the sun rise higher into the sky and enjoying the sounds of the waves as they practice their eternal ebb and flow will make you happy to be alive and color the rest of your day in a rosy light.

In addition to just lounging beneath a big umbrella with a paperback in hand, feel free to do a little beach combing, jet-skiing, surfing, fishing or snorkeling. The name of the game is doing what you please, so exhaust a few more beach-themed fantasies if you so please. Hopefully you’ve allowed yourself ample time to enjoy yourself, because you’ve only just begun to squeeze all the entertainment you can from North Myrtle Beach.

Next, head to the golf course or get athletic playing baseball, basketball, tennis or beach volleyball. Jog along the shoreline or play Frisbee in the park, stroll down the pier or paddle across Mclean Park’s lake. You’ll be burning calories no matter what you do and this will be the kind of exercise that’s virtually painless. When you’re just having fun, that’s the best way to stay fit and healthy – mentally and physically.

Dinner shows and family nighttime entertainment are another fun diversion, and if it’s just the dinner you’re after there are plenty of restaurants from which to choose. The Grand Strand has about 2,000 different places and they range from casual beachside seafood joints to upscale Italian or Japanese establishments. It’s pretty safe to say that your appetite will be sated no matter what culinary delights you seek.

To complete the picture of this vacation-friendly destination, know that several annual special events and festivals are on hand to round out this portfolio. Holiday festivities, parades, wine tours, golf tournaments and much more mean that whenever you’re here, it’s likely that you’ll run into a celebration of some kind. Enjoy a concert or a beach party and take home a richer idea concerning the spirit and personality that make this destination tick.

Finally, ensure that all goes as well as it has the potential to by securing not just standard but superior lodgings. Dozens of vacation condos, apartments and beach houses are ready to welcome visitors any time of the year and are set to accommodate groups of all size and disposition. Whether you’re here for a wedding, a reunion or a romantic getaway, a North Myrtle Beach Vacation Rental is waiting to house you in comfort and convenience.

Skipping town for a bit to enjoy a restful vacation is something we all deserve at one point or another. If your time has come, start planning today and good luck crafting and enjoying the kind of getaway that you deserve.

What should I do about this?

I babysit for a family that has 4 and 6 year old boys. A while ago, we talked about me babysitting them the whole summer while they are at work instead of putting them in daycare during the summer. At the time, of course, I said yes.
Now that my summer vacation starts tomorrow, I’m going to be very busy.
- I have a wedding (June)
- I have a MONTH long vacation to visit my grandparents in Myrtle Beach, SC (in July)
- I have a week or two long vacation to visit my aunt and cousin in Jacksonville, FL (August)

Obviously, a 15yr old girl will not want to be spending her whole time with toddlers. I don’t really hang out with my friends during the summer, so that’s not a problem.

I just do not know how to approach this.

Just be honest with them and tell them you just don’t have the time over the summer. Tell them that things have come up so suddenly that you just can’t, you would love to, but you can’t. Ask them if there’s anything you can do for them while you are in town, and see if some of your friends would want to fill in your spot. I’m sure they’ll understand. You’re 15, they can’t expect you to spend all of your summer vacation with their children.

When it comes to getting a beach wedding gift for somebody, money isn’t the only issue you have to think about. The much more pressing question is what in the world do I get them? When it comes to wedding gifts, you can never go wrong with practical.

Instead of purchasing the bride and groom a gift that will just take up space in their home or in storage, think of getting them something that they can functionally use in the long term. Try to get them a gift that you know they will use everyday or serves some kind of function in their home. Remember that the costs and/or size aren’t what are important. The value that you are giving them is.

A cash gift isn’t a bad option. Although it’s very informal, no one ever denies cash. They can put in the bank or just purchase products for their new that they would personally like. After all, almost any new couple could always use some extra cash, when they are first starting. Chances are, the wedding set them back a little.

Another gift that has become increasingly popular is giving a contribution to the wedding on your behalf. This is a perfect gift if you can’t think of what kind of gift to get them. Couples will always need help paying for their wedding, and they would appreciate any kind of assistance you can give them. You can tell them that you would like to pay for the wedding invitations, the cake, the venue, or perform services for them, like DJ (if you are one), help cater the meal, etc… They’ll be able to save money on the wedding, and you’ll be giving them a gift.

You can give them a gift certificate to any department store. It’s like a cash gift, but it’s a little bit more personal. You should have some idea of what the couple is into. For instance, if the groom loves electronics, you can get him a gift card to Best Buy. Try to think outside the box.

A vacation package is another great option. Let’s face it. After all the hassles of preparing for their wedding, I’m sure the couple can use a nice, long vacation. They are probably in the mood to be in a peaceful vacation spot, where they can rest their troubles away. Go visit some traveling websites. I’m sure you can find some great deals for weekend getaways. Give them the gift that keeps on giving.

Other popular gifts are kitchen utensils. It’s a classic, but it’s a good one. Think about utensils that most other people don’t. For instance, most people give forks, spoons, glasses, etc…. Get them something a little different. Think about a can opener, spatula, ladle, etc…

If all else fails, just think about the hobbies and interests that bride and groom are interested in. If you are close friends with them, you should have some idea of what their interests are in. If you are not too sure, just ask some of their friends.

How One South Florida Wedding Band Creates Unforgettable Events

When the party’s over, the guests have all gone home, and all the thank you cards have been sent out… what do you think your guests will remember most?

The food? The flowers? The cake? None of the above.

They’ll remember if they had a fantastic time at the wedding, which is directly related to how much time they spend on the dance floor!

This is one of the most important benefits of having a great band for your South Florida wedding music. Not only must the music be great, but you must have a bandleader that knows how to get people on the dance floor and keep them there!

You could have the greatest musicians on the planet at your wedding, but if they’re not playing the right music at the right time, the dance floor will be empty. That’s a concert, not a party!

You see, the bandleader is similar to the quarterback on a football team, and the rest of the band is like the team. The bandleader needs to call the right “plays,” getting more and more people up to dance, and working the crowd for maximum fun!

This can also be observerd in DJs. The music is the original recordings, so musicians’ talent is not a factor. Two DJs can have the same stack of CDs, however one party will rock, and the other will be a bore. It’s WHAT music is played WHEN, that keeps the crowd dancing.

A DJ also blends one song into another, so there’s no break in the action on the dance floor. A professional South Florida wedding band will perform medleys, to accomplish the same thing.

Manhattan Music, Inc., based in Pompano Beach, Florida, uses this concept at all their performances.

Many couples make the mistake of basing their choice of band based solely on the band’s talent, rather than their ability to skillfully work the dance floor. This can result in what I call “the concert effect.”

How do you know if the band understands this concept?

If the band sends you an audio CD of their music, (recorded in a home studio, and polished to “perfection”) you can bet they don’t get it. They’re featuring their talent, not their ability to create a hot party. Considering most weddings are professionally videotaped, it raises questions as to why they aren’t presenting any live footage.

If they send you a “staged” video, (lip-synced in an empty room; typically with edits to a crowd dancing at some other event), they don’t get it. In fact, they’re hoping YOU don’t get it!

If the band shows up with a “set list,” they more than likely will just play the songs in the play list order, and whatever happens on the dance floor is left to chance.

Live video footage demonstrating the talents, musical styles, as well as how the band works the crowd is the best way to determine if the group can make the party sizzle, second only to being a guest for four hours at someone else’s affair.

Most couples want an amazing dance party for their wedding, not a concert. It’s the difference between an unforgettable event and a “nice time.”

Virginia Beach Wedding Ministers

Has anyone been married on Virginia Birch or know of any photographers/JOP’s?

My fiance and I are thinking of having a small (under 12 people) ceremony on Virginia Beach. We looked at beachweddingsvirginia.com but they do not have any wedding dates in later Sept/early Oct available during sunset. We considered going in July or August but I am assuming that would be really hot and not comfortable. I am looking for some information on other packages (under $1000) that include photography, and someone to perform the service.

We originally wanted to get married at Cape Charles because the sunsets are better, so if anyone knows any photographers/ordained ministers there that would help too. We would either do a package deal, or pay separately, we just have a tight budget and also are from NH and can’t meet personally with anyone before the ceremony event, which is why the packages seemed like a good idea.

Also if anyone knows what time of the year the weather is best, please let me know. Thanks
Sorry, I meant Virginia Beach, don’t have to be so rude about it

Well, I can comment on the photographer part of your question.

Many photographers are willing to wheel and deal.

Ask that the original proof CD be submitted to you as part of the *contract*.

Also, see if you can assign a friend with a laptop, empty external hard disk, and memory card reader so that the photos taken can be downloaded at the end of the event.

If not, then you should state in the contract that the *original* digital files in RAW format are to be burned to CD, not weak JPEG thumbnail shots.

Ask that all rights to the photos be totally released to you.

State in the contract that 60% down payment will be made but the remaining balance will be given when the goods are received.

Have you seen these photographer horror stories here on Y!A:
