Suit Groom Beach Wedding Attire

grooms attire for beach wedding?

My fiance and I are getting married in la jolla in june and I need help with what he’s wearing.. I dont really like the linen outfit/suit thing… but i dont know whether to go with a khaki pant with a lighter shirt, but just normal cotton material or darker like black pants and what not..
Im thinking about nice dress pants, a button up shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows for a more casual look and a tie. kind of what he used to wear when he worked for a bank…
it is a super small wedding, us and parents and siblings.. thats all.. pretty casual, i have a silk ivory colored dress. any help would be appreciated :)

ug, linen is so girly. only european men can wear linen and not look weird. I think your idea of nice dress pants and a button shirt is nice. he can’t roll up the sleeves if he’s wearing a tie tho, that would look weird in your photos. I would skip the tie so he can keep the collar open, but ask him to keep the sleeves rolled down just for the ceremony. then he can roll them up after.

Beach Wedding Flutes

Solo flute pieces for a beach wedding?

I have been asked to play flute for a wedding ceremony on the beach. Does anyone have any suggestions of pieces? I am a pretty competent player however I think fairly simple pieces may be nicer. Maybe classical concerto slow movements? But they have to sound ok un-accompanied.

Please go to www.jennifercluff.com This is NOT me! She has an excellent list of unaccompanied works for weddings.

Playing on the beach is not ideal. Do NOT take your *good flute* – take something student-level. Sand and wind are NOT our friends. Make sure that you stand is SOLIDLY connected to the ground – use one of those big screw supports that people use to connect a dog run or beach umbrella, and lash you r stand to THAT. Get MANY wind clips – those long clothespins – or cover your music with plastic, and then clips THAT. I once played a gig SO windy that i took a lathe-operators mask (clear plastic) and wore it to play – the flute underneath, I could see and be seen, and was able to produce a decent tone without the wind preventing me from doing so.

Some of the suggestions you are going to receive will be for famous flute works – but as you asked, they do not make it without their accompaniments. Go for slow, clear things – not a time to play the Bach a minor partita, of Larson’s “Movin’ On”. Again, check Jen’s stuff – she is always a big help.
